Assassin’s Creed Valhalla (2020)

Long-awaited by the fans, Assassin’s Creed Valhalla puts the Vikings front and centre. Designed and created by the same team Montreal team as Assassin’s Creed Origins, this entry twists the formula a little bit more. We still have the choice between a female and a male character. The avian companion is still there, this time around taking the form of a raven named Sýnin. But Valhalla focuses more on the stealth aspects of the game like earlier entries. You can now hide in plain sight faking a discussion with nearby characters. You can pull your hood to hide your face. You can even play dead to deceive the enemies. The hidden blade is still available for one-hit assassination and you are now able to use it to defeat the bosses the same way instead of going through lengthy battles.

Most of the game takes place in current England but during the 9th century. The Vikings are in full expansion and conquer all the territories they can reach. They’re ruthless and determined. Of course there is still a strong emphasis on fantasy. This is why at key moments of the story you experience visions seeing the all-mighty Odin or fight supernatural beasts like a giant wolf.

Available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series S/X.
