What happens when the hero saves the day, rescues the damsel in distress and triumphs over evil? Guacamelee! 2 begins in this ‘’happily ever after’’ state.
After beating the evil Calaca, Luchador Juan has retired, married Lupita and he spends his days raising their two children and watching TV.
Ok, maybe ‘’happily ever after’’ makes for a boring video game.
Luckily for us, Juan can’t rest for long; while he’s shopping for avocadoes, Uay Chivo, Juan’s mentor, comes out of a mysterious portal, telling him that the whole ‘’Mexiverse’’ is in danger, and that he needs the luchador to follow him into the Darkest Timeline.
There, he finds a reality where he failed at foiling Calaca’s evil plans. There, another luchador named Salvador vanquished Calaca, but he became corrupted by the power, and it’s now up to you to stop him from destroying the Mexiverse by stealing the Sacred Guacamole.
Yes, Guacamelee! 2 is a bit silly.
In a fact, so much so that one of the main gameplay hooks in this style is your ability to transform into a chicken that can zap around the levels.
You’ll need to use both your luchador and chicken abilities to fight the evil skeletons, jump around the treacherous levels and stop Salvador.
Guacamelee! 2 was nominated for the "Control Design, 2D or Limited 3D" and "Game, Franchise Action" awards at the National Academy of Video Game Trade Reviewers Awards.
