Marvel’s Avengers (2020)

Following the silver screen adventures of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes with a AAA video game was not an easy task. But Eidos-Montréal, along with Crystal Dynamics, successfully took up this challenge. To be clear, this is a multiplayer based game. The campaign is great as a solo player but even better when shared with friends or other online participants.

The story follows Kamala Khan also known as Ms. Marvel after a catastrophic event that saw the original Avengers (Thor, the Hulk, Black Widow, Captain America and Iron Man) disbanding or meeting a worse fate. They are also held responsible for this issue and superheroes are therefore outlawed. Her goal is to get the Avengers team together once more to face the threat that is actually to blame for the cataclysm.

The game plays like a regular 3D beat’em up with waves and waves of enemy coming. They get bigger and bigger as the missions get more difficult. But what a thrill to use all the powers at our disposal! Moreover, as we reassemble the Avengers, we can switch heroes and unleash even more  abilities. There’s also a strong emphasis on customization as we can unlock new gear and new powers as we collect resources and experience points. The best in all of this? The developers keep adding content and heroes to play like Hawkeye. Marvel’s Avengers is the gift that keeps on giving.
